Let's Create An Open Discussion on Childbirth
Hi Ladies!
Let’s have an open conversation on childbirth! As I mentioned in my first blog post, this blog is intended to be a conversation about childbirth around the world. I will provide some research, advice, and tips from the mothers and experts who I interviewed for my book about childbirth around the world, but most importantly, this blog is for you to engage with one another. I hope that new mothers will come here with their questions on preparing for childbirth and pregnancy and how to make the postpartum period smoother. I hope women around the world will share their experiences and tips too. With so many countries around the world, I am sure there will be differences and that will be a great way for us to learn from each other.
Here are some guidelines to help create an open discussion (with this blog and may help you in your everyday life too):
1. Listen. Listen to others with an open heart and have empathy and compassion. Hold space for the other women who comment and whose stories I share in my posts.
2. Be respectful. Speak with love. Support each other.
3. Share your personal stories, but please do not spread fear, gossip, and horror stories.
4. No preaching.
8. Be mindful and sensitive. Some women have had traumatic births. Some women are still experiencing postpartum depression. Some women carry shame and some women have been shamed.
9. No shaming. No name calling. No criticizing. No bullying. Please do not spread negativity. (Such posts will be removed.)
10. Realize women learn as they go with motherhood. No one has all the answers. No one is perfect.
11. Also please no selling on this blog.
Got it, ladies? We are here to empower ourselves around the topic of childbirth, not tear each other down. It is time for female empowerment! Let’s keep this blog high-vibe!
