This may surprise you about me.
I used to get seizures.
I experienced them for 15 years.
I started getting them when I was 13.
The first one happened during surgery.
Strangely, I got them about every 7 years.
My doctors didn’t know why. They couldn’t explain it.
Seizures were the most painful and the scariest health condition I ever experienced.
And they got progressively worse. The last time, I lost consciousness at an event and woke up in a pool of sweat with a circle of doctors, nurses, and an EMT around me.
I felt dis-empowered and scared.
Until, I researched and discovered that heavy metals could be creating the symptoms that I was experiencing.
The other night, I started to watch the Docu-series about centenarians who live on the Blue Zones.
I watched several episodes and saw some similarities.
What do people who live a long life of vitality have common?
They eat high-quality nutritious food.
They eat whole foods, homemade food, not food with chemicals and additives.
They are active. They make their own food. They socialize with friends and family. They walk. They do active work outside from gardening to taking care of animals to horseback riding.
They spend a lot of time outside in the fresh air, sun, and in nature.
They do activities which are fun such as dancing, singing, playing an instrument, attending parties, and playing sports with friends.
They had hobbies. Hobbies that they have done for a long time.
They laugh a lot. They don’t take life seriously.
They do not stress. They relax. They are at peace.
They go to the beach. They enjoy time in nature. They live in warm climates.
They live in beautiful places in the world.
They feel that they have a purpose throughout their lives and their purpose is not tied to money or their career.
None of them were sedentary. None of them used walkers, canes or wheelchairs.
None of them lived in nursing homes.
Their families lived close by and engaged with them often.
None of them sat in front of the computer or TV all day. It didn’t seem that any of them even watched TV.
They were in the present. They didn’t live in the past or worried about the future.
Medications didn’t help them to live longer lives. In fact, most of them didn’t have health conditions or seem to take medications. The rates of heart disease, dementia, and diabetes were much lower in the Blue Zones.

And I have decided to give away a BIG prize!!!
Recently, I had oral surgery.
If you know me, you know that I don’t take medication.
But I made an exception since I had surgery and didn’t want to have any problems.
My surgeon recommended that I take one dose of antibiotics for one day.
So I did.
And then I took a probiotic and prebiotics several hours later to boost my good bacteria and gut health.
I continue to take the probiotic and prebiotic so that I don’t any adverse side effects.
I like to take Just Thrive probiotic and Just Thrive Precision PREbiotic.
They work great together.
Read MoreLast Friday, I had my wisdom tooth extracted.
If you know me, you know that I have been trained in shamanism.
Shamanism is not only a form of healing but it is also a lifestyle.
A lifestyle that believes in natural healing such as with food and herbs
We don’t take medication.
Before my surgery, I can’t remember the last time I took medication
But because I had a traumatic experience as a teenager having teeth removed I decided to have twilight sleep (sedation).
I also opted to have a local anesthetic so I didn’t have pain.
Then my doctor recommended a steroid and antibiotic for one day which I took.
He recommended a narcotic which I declined
But I did take children’s Motrin and then later Advil so that I wouldn’t have swelling.
So you can see that for someone who doesn’t take medication and hasn’t taken any medication years this was a lot of medication that was suddenly in my system.
Thankfully, I didn’t have any pain during the procedure or afterwards but I did experience dizziness and great fatigue from the medications.
So I knew I needed to detox the medication out of my system.
Read MoreMany people believe that the tradition of Thanksgiving originated when the Pilgrims arrived and Native people helped them to survive their first brutal winter. We were taught in school that the settlers invited the Indians to a big feast of brotherhood as a way of thanks.
This is not the case.
Keep in mind that the first settlers were not in Plymouth, MA but in Virginia.
The people that arrived on the big ship in Massachusetts were adventurers and Separatists. They were people who were looking for adventure and religious freedom. Two very different types of people.
The Native people were not afraid with their arrival since the shipped contained women and children. They knew that warring people would not bring women and children, but still they stayed to themselves and watched and didn't interfere.
They watched as the settlers diminished that winter from 100 to 51 and then they went to help them to survive.
Read MoreGrowing up my family was one of about two black families in town. Now there is more diversity, but back then not so much.
Some weekends my family would drive to New York to visit my great uncle and great aunt and my cousins.
One time my great aunt asked me, “Khristee, do you double dutch?”
”No,” I replied.
“Do you know how to double Dutch?“ she asked.
“No,” I replied.
She smiled.
“I will teach you.“
We went to the back.
“First, just watch.“
I watched the ropes swing quickly and the girls jump in and effortlessly jump and dance with the ropes. I was mesmerized.
“Now, you try.“
The twins started the ropes. They spun round and round.
“Now, jump!“
Read MoreToday is Indigenous People’s Day.
It wasn’t until my boyfriend in San Francisco back in 2011 called Columbus Day Indigenous People’s Day that I began to call it the same. He was the first person I had ever heard say Indigenous People’s Day and to honor Native people on this day.
And I am part Native American.
Today it actually makes me sad that people say Columbus Day and honor someone who didn’t discover America but was the beginning of land being taken away from Native people.
In grade school, I remember learning about Manifest Destiny.
It was man’s destiny to take as much land as he could the text books said.
We didn’t learn that peace between the early settlers and Native Americans was not true.

So true.
I see all of my clients as my teachers.
I am always learning something new from my guides.
I am always learning something new from my research.
I am always learning something new from books and my life experiences.
I will always be a student of life.
And I am always concentrating on my healing.
I heal myself through energy work, meditation, the foods I eat, and the supplements I take.
I heal myself by spending time in nature.
I heal myself through mindfulness.
I am like a hummingbird with a curious mind, a thirst for knowledge, and a desire to always seek the sweetness and pleasures in life.
Read MoreWhen I was sick with my chronic illness for 15 years, doctors tried to give me medication after medication.
They treated the individual symptoms, not the root cause.
Or
They didn’t treat me at all.
They believed I was just depressed
or
a hypochondriac.
They didn’t know that by offering me more medication they were making me sicker.
People didn’t think I looked sick.
They only believed the doctors
and
my doctors didn’t do the right tests
so they said I was fine.
I have a hard time looking back at pictures of when I was sick, even if it was a happier occasion, like these pics of me on vacation.
I see how sick I was.
Read MoreLast week, I offered a free Masterclass on why infertility is rising around the world.
As many of you know, for the last several years I have been writing a three book series about childbirth around the world through a holistic perspective.
It’s probably no surprise that through my in-depth interviews and research, I learned that miscarriage is more common than I thought. Many women who I interviewed had miscarried or had trouble conceiving and many did not know how common it is today in the US and around the world.
Miscarriage didn’t use to be so common.
Infertility is rising.
It’s time to take a look at why this is happening so that it can be remedied.
Watch my Masterclass.
It is 40 minutes and will bring you insights that are not being discussed.
Read MoreEvery May 1, I always think of my college friend, Sunil Rajan, who died on his birthday May 1, several years ago.
In college, I had a really bad seizure. I had a history of seizures since I was 13 years old. It was so scary. Because I had a really bad seizure in college, I had to stay up all night and then go to the hospital to see if they could stimulate it with strobe lights to see if I had epilepsy. Sunil was one of a few friends who came to my apartment and stayed up all night with me and because I wasn’t allowed to sleep a wink, he didn’t sleep a wink either.
He was a good friend. He had compassion for me.
Later after college, by chance we met again and continued our friendship. Shortly after that, he fell from a ladder while at work and had a grand mal seizure and had to be rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

My grandmother is 99 years old and still dresses up.
It made me think: What is the secret to a long life?
Health, of course,
and happiness.
It is following your passions to make your life enjoyable. It is also knowing you are loved and supported.
Looking back on the details of my grandmother's life (that I know), I know she came from humble beginnings growing up in the country in Virginia. She moved to NYC to finish her education when she was sixteen. She married my grandfather who joined the military and they toured the world. She even went to see Josephine Baker perform when she lived in Paris. Her world expanded when she saw different cities and cultures. She had four children. She was psychic. She continued to travel all around the world. She beat colon cancer. She felt loved. Her amazing childbirth story is going to be in my book about childbirth around the world. Imagine childbirth in the 40's. Next month she turns 100!
Read MoreHappy World Health Day. This year’s theme is building a fairer, healthier world for everyone and so I want to share the story of my grandmother.
My grandmother had an adverse reaction to the Covid-19 vaccine. She had a very strong reaction. I reported it to VAERS, The Vaccine Adverse Event System, a national early warning system to detect possible safety issues with vaccines in the U.S. It is managed by the CDC and the FDA. My parents were happy that I reported it. They were very worried. None of us had ever seen her in such a condition. Luckily, with my expertise for holistic health and wellness and being a medium, I was able to give her a natural remedy that relieved the symptoms and she is okay again. But my parents were not sure if she would ever be okay again.
My grandmother is 99 years and so with the virus we have been keeping her home. It’s difficult for her to walk so my parents called for a visiting nurse to give her the shot at home. The nurse asked her if she had any severe allergies and if she used an epi-pen (which she does not), but did not mention any of the side effects that my grandmother developed later as being a possible adverse reaction. The nurse stayed with her for 15 minutes but it was several hours before the adverse effects kicked in. When they kicked in, they kicked in forcefully and she was inconsolable.

The myths circulating about narcissists are preventing you from breaking the cycle.
If you have been in a toxic, abusive relationship, look at your past and the areas of your life to see where you need healing. It is a fallacy that empaths always attract narcissists. Wounded empaths attract narcissists, but not all empaths are wounded. Some are empowered. Wounded people attract wounded people. Narcissists are wounded. If you’re in a relationship with a narcissist, you will never be able to change them, but you can heal yourself and set healthy boundaries and learn the signs so that you do not welcome another narcissist into your life.

I was inspired to create a self-love series.
I used to dread Valentine’s Day. I used to feel bad that I was not in a romantic relationship. I used to feel sad on that day. But just like we can set goals and intentions every day, we don’t have to wait until New Years; we can fill ourselves up with love every day, we don’t have to wait for someone to love us. So last year I filled myself up with so much love. I meditated. I spent time outside in my hammock and going for walks. I exercised. I read. I took baths. I listened to inspirational podcasts. I studied numerology and astrology. I did shadow work. I wrote gratitude lists and I healed myself.
Last Friday, I started Fill Up Your Heart: Self-Love Series on Facebook. I decided to broadcast it on my business FB page, The Dancing Curtain and in my private FB group for empaths and creatives who wish to live an extraordinary life. Click here to join the private group. The series has just begun! I wanted to start it before Valentine’s Day to help support those who are single or broken-hearted but it continues until February 26. I wanted to make the series long enough so that people really felt that their hearts are filled up with love. Watch the replays on the pages and invite a friend.
When I was sick with my chronic illness, I didn't have the knowledge I have today. It was through trial and error that I learned the importance of not only choosing the right supplements, but high quality supplements. It was through time and research that I Iearned that what we put on our bodies is as important as what we put in our bodies. Our body is the largest organ we have and it absorbs everything we put on our skin. Everything we put on our bodies and in our bodies and around our bodies contributes to either good health or poor health.
I have so much empathy for those who are struggling with a chronic illness. I know that they often don't have the energy to research and understand what is best for them.
But I do know that if you purchase gifts for your loved ones that help them to feel good, they will treasure those gifts for a long time and appreciate you.
Here are some of my favorites:
